House prices have become so expensive that for a family now to consider buying a larger house, it may be unaffordable. Kitchen Extensions

The most popular extension we do is a kitchen extension, which often includes knocking down internal walls to create a large, open-plan living space. People love light and bright rooms, so we are often asked to add in bi-fold doors into the garden or a roof lantern, or Velux windows.

More and more of our customers are asking for orangeries when they have a kitchen extension – these are mostly made from bricks and usually feature floor-to-ceiling windows and a lantern style roof. The bricks are carefully selected to match the existing property and the orangery extension is designed to blend in. These are more popular than conservatories as they are more substantial – the walls are well insulated and the glazing utilises modern technology ensuring the room can be comfortably used all year round.

Case Study

Kitchen / Dining / Shower Room Extension - Shirley, Solihull

Mr & Mrs D wanted their new extension to comprise of an open plan kitchen, dinning & entertaining space along with downstairs shower room. They had already employed the services of an architect and full planning permission was in place.

There were existing 6” shared fowl drainage running under the proposed extension footprint. A build over agreement with Severn Trent and a pre build CCTV survey was carried out. New pipework was then installed beneath the extension and an existing access chamber relocated and replaced. This extension featured:

Alteration to the existing drainage layouts
Suspended block & beam flooring
New tiling to the kitchen floors along with walls and floors to shower areas
Aluminium bi-fold doors using the Smart System running gear (colour anthracite - RAL 7016) leading on to the raised patio area
Pattern 10 pre-finished doors to separate the kitchen and dining area from the lounge
Aluminium lantern lights to both kitchen & the ground floor shower room
Flat roof finished in Firestone EDPM rubber roof covering
Gas fired under floor heating
Porcelain floor finish to patio areas
Glass balustrade to elevated patio sides

Dayroom / Orangery Extension - Solihull

Our client wanted more space but also wanted to be able to section off the open plan space to create smaller, cosier areas when required.

We created an open plan kitchen / lounge / dining area with an internal bi-fold door to separate the space as required. This extension featured:
